If you have ever been to or passed through 28, Subhash Marg, you would’ve definitely noticed the residential building with a life-size replica of an airplane built on it. The magnificent ‘Jahaz Wali Kothi’ catches the eye of the young and old alike.The Kothi is currently witnessing the fourth generation of residents. Now divided among three brothers.

It was commissioned in 1955 and completed in three years’ time.The founder-designer of the Kothi, Late Madhuri Sharan Rastogi, did not live long enough to enjoy the pleasures of residing in it.

Silver Painted Aeroplane

The silver-painted airplane was well ahead of its time with the lights and propellers, all in action. The propellers were attached to the pulley which could be operated through a motor. Later, the damaged metallic propellers were replaced with the wooden ones. The airplane is well ventilated with the help of three equally placed circular cemented openings. Not just for show, the airplane can accommodate 20-25 people in it.

In the words of one of the inheritors, Manoj Rastogi enthusiastically shares all the information busts the myth that in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, the building was covered for security reasons.

Renovated Hawai Jahaz Kothi

Now, the Hawai Jahaj kothi has been renovated to re-glorify its beauty its history its elegance.It appears that the owner of the building wanted to give a message to his family to achieve sky-high prosperity in all directions of human development and a long-lasting inspiration in the psyche of visitors.

Till date, it is the first and the last building in India having such a replica.

UP ATS holes up a suspect terrorist in Thakurganj area of Lucknow. Operation in progress


Lucknow encounter: The UP Anti Terror Squad has cornered a terror suspect in Thakurganj area of Lucknow.

At least one suspected terrorist opened fire at security forces in Thakurganj area of Lucknow, on Tuesday afternoon. The Uttar Pradesh Anti Terror Squad is currently engaged in an operation inThakurganj area of Lucknow. The area is among the densely populated areas of Lucknow. Security officials had to fire tear-gas shells into the house where the suspect is holed up.The suspect has been identified as Saifullah but there was no official confirmation of the same. Police saidthey were suspecting just one person to be holed up inside the house, but they have not ruled out the possibility of there being more individuals.

In a press conference today, ADG (Law & Order) Daljit Chaudhary said they had received inputs about presence of some suspects in Kanpurand Lucknow, following wich senior officials searched the areas. “One suspect has been arrested from Kanpur, the second one is inside a building in Thakurganj. He has not come out yet.” Chaudhary refused todivulge any details on whether the suspects had any links to the train accidents as well as whether the suspect belonged to any terror organisation. “We will have to arrestand interrogate him first,” Chaudhary has said. The ADG added that the commandos were well trained in the operation and that they would complete the operation soon.

Civilians residing in the area have been moved away and the ATS has surrounded the structure where thesuspect is currently holed up. The security officials are not sure of the number of suspects inside the house. While there was initial firing,it has now stopped. The security personnel are reaching out to the suspect hopeful that he will surrender, but he has reportedly declined to surrender. The security personnel will have to ascertain the amount and kind of weapons presentwith the suspect before they plan ontheir next move. The other option with the police is to storm the house and neutralise the suspect. A high-level meeting between government and police officials is currently underway.

Meanwhile, the Union government is reportedly monitoring the situation in Lucknow very closely. Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi has briefedUnion Home MinisterRajnath Singhabout the developments in Lucknow.

Today’s encounter comes hours before Uttar Pradesh goes to vote inthe seventh and last phase of polling.
